On 3 November, Deputy Minister for Investment Promotion, Mr Nurul Ichwan, and the Team Leader of ARISE+ Indonesia Technical Assistance II, Mr Alessandro Martinatto, presented progress on the Indonesia-EU Investment Attraction Plan to the EU Member States. The meeting took place at the EU Delegation in Jakarta.
The Ministry of Trade, with technical assistance from the European Union (EU)-funded ARISE+ Indonesia, conducted an analytical study on "Economic Policy Priority of the ASEAN Indonesian Chairmanship in 2023: Strengthening Regional Value Chains (RVCs)", aiming to provide strategic recommendations to ASEAN through Indonesia to develop ASEAN into a centre of Global Value Chains. The study findings on the potential of automotive, electronic, and health equipment sectors were presented and discussed with policymakers and stakeholders to increase the participation of ASEAN Member States in RVCs on Monday (31/10).
On account of strengthening control on food safety, food quality and nutrition, the National Standardization Agency (BSN), whose responsible for standardisation, conformity assessment, accreditation and metrology activities in Indonesia, in collaboration with ARISE+ Indonesia, organised a one-day Workshop on Risk Assessment and Management for Food Products, 17 October 2022. The workshop was part of a series of activities to observe the 2022 National Quality Month in October.
Indonesia currently does not have many international trade lawyers, which is very much needed considering that Indonesia often faces trade remedy investigations initiated by trading partner countries.
The potential for catfish (Pangasius) exports to Saudi Arabia is lucrative, estimated to reach 1,150 tons in 2023 to meet the supply of hajj and non-hajj catering. However, the business actors must be ready to maintain supply continuity and meet export regulatory requirements according to SFDA (Saudi Food and Drug Authority). The opportunity and catfish export requirements were discussed during the Market Access of Catfish to Saudi Arabia Seminar, held in collaboration between the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (MoMAF), the Ministry of Trade (MoT) and ARISE+ Indonesia at the Indonesia Convention Expo (ICE) BSD, Jakarta.
Indra, Sadi, Vivi and Hanzela were overwhelmed when their booth, ARISE+ Indonesia-supported Indonesian Geographical Indications (GI), at the 3rd World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) Expo, was visited by many prominent figures, including Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy and his wife, the Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Product, the Director of Creative Industry and Intellectual Property Development, the Ambassador of the Creative Industries of the Mayor of London, the Ambassador of Serbia, and many others.
The Government of Indonesia is gearing up to develop a market surveillance system for non-food products called the Indonesia Rapid Exchange of Information System (INRAPEX). The development of INRAPEX, supported by ARISE+ Indonesia, reaffirmed the Government's commitment to consumer protection efforts and increasing the competitiveness of Indonesian products.
ARISE+ Indonesia organised a study mission to Sicily, Italy, from 21 to 23 September 2022 to, amongst other things, consider the prospect of twining a European GI chocolate with an Indonesian GI cocoa. The activity was part of the overall project actions to support Indonesian GIs' development and promote their export. The mission involved the Directorate General of Intellectual Property, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, the Directorate General of National Export Development, the Ministry of Trade, the Trade Attaché of the Indonesian Embassy to Italy, the Director of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre, the Indonesian Cocoa Board and Kakao Berau MPIG.
The Indonesian Ministry of Trade and ARISE+ Indonesia launched today (06/10) in Jakarta the "Trade Defense Handbook" during a handover ceremony organised with the support of the EU-funded ARISE+ Indonesia programme. The launching of the publication was officiated by the Director of Trade Defense (DPP), the Ministry of Trade, Natan Kambuno and the ARISE+ Indonesia Team Leader, Marc Kwai Pun.
