In addition to the exhibition, a Business Forum & IP Consultation was held in a hybrid format to promote Indonesian GIs to capital owners, potential buyers, associations, and the Indonesian diaspora in the United Arab Emirates, on 10 March 2022.
"Hopefully, this forum would promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth, encourage innovation and provide opportunities, benefits and empowerment for all of Indonesia's leading GI commodities," the acting Director-General of Intellectual Property, Mr Razilu, said during the Business Forum opening.
The Coordinator of the Geographical Indications of DGIP, Marchienda Werdany, and the ARISE+ Indonesia GI Senior Expert, Giovanni Galanti, also spoke at the webinar.
The participation of ARISE+ Indonesia-supported Indonesian GIs in the international fora is in line with the Government of Indonesia's program dubbed "Indonesia Spice Up the World", which was launched on 4 November 2021 in Expo 2020 Dubai. The ISUW programme aims to boost spices export and increase investment in the upstream spices and herbs industry.
ARISE+ Indonesia supported selected Indonesian GIs in three prominent international B2B trade fairs, namely the Expo 2020 Dubai (1-31 March 2022), Alimentaria 2022 Barcelona (4-7 April), and F+B Indonesia (18-21 May 2022). The ARISE+ Indonesia's support to Indonesian GIs' at the international expo is part of a comprehensive action plan to strengthen international market linkages for the Indonesian GIs.
The Expo 2020 Dubai, with the theme of "Connecting Minds and Creating the Future", was the first world expo held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region. The Expo 2020 took place from 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022 and welcomed visitors worldwide to attend on-site.
