The EU Delegation and the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights and the Directorate General of National Export Development (DGNED) of the Ministry of Trade, and the Directorate of Intellectual Property Facilitation (DIPF) of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MoTCE), conducted a joint field visit to monitor Geographical Indication (GI) development in one of the EU-funded ARISE+ Indonesia project sites in Amed, Bali on June 6, 2022.

The EU Delegation was represented by Mr Mario Ronconi, the Head of Unit for South and Southeast Asia of the International Cooperation Directorate General of the European Union, and Mr Thibaut Portevin, the Head of Cooperation for the EU Delegation for Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, and Nur Isravivani, the EU Task Manager for ARISE+ Indonesia. The DGIP, DGNED and DIPF were represented by the GI Coordinator Marchienda Werdany, the Trade Analyst Merry Astrid Indriasari, and Ajeng Riananda, respectively.

In cooperation with the DGIP of the MoLHR and the DGNED of the MoT, ARISE+ Indonesia facilitated selected the Geographical Indication Protection Communities (MPIG), including Bali Amed Salt to strengthen its capacity in internal control plan, traceability, branding, promotion, and market linkages. The activities aim to empower small producers and enhance Indonesia's competitiveness by promoting Geographical Indications as an expression of product authenticity and premium quality.
